Job Description

We are currently seeking to hire a Flexographic Pressman/Print Operator for our Sterling Heights location.  As a Flexographic Pressman/Print Operator you will coordinate job set up for the presses.  Formulate and blend inks as required and organize inks for the press to run.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Mixing, Blending, and storing inks
  • Setting up and operating the press: Install and adjust plates, rollers, inks, and dies, and start and stop the press 
  • Monitor the feeding, printing, & racking processes
  • Adjusting settings: Change the speed, temperature, ink flow, and pressure tolerances
  • Loading and positioning unprinted materials
  • Cleaning and lubricating the press
  • Packing and labeling finished products 
  • Checking quality: Pull proofs to verify ink coverage, alignment, and registration 
  • Maintaining quality: Monitor quality throughout the printing run and adjust as needed 
  • Ensuring safety: Keep the equipment in safe working order and notify supervision of needed repairs 
  • Delivering finished products: Deliver the printed materials to the designated area 
  • Understanding documents: Read job orders and other documents to determine quantities, colors, and special instructions 
  • Training others: Teach and mentor less experienced employees
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience Flexographic printing
  • Ability to work 10-12 hour shifts 
  • Read and understand job tickets with close attention to film requirements and print specifications
  • Prepare, set up, adjust, and maintain printing press equipment in accordance to company quality standards and job requirements 
  • Perform all make-ready tasks such as installing sleeves, example plates/sleeves for imperfections, checks for correct positioning of images, adjust tension and register, and setting up ink requirements, etc. 
  • Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments during production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the job 
  • Monitors company critical control points: artwork matches master sample/proof, drying temperature and film speed of press 
  • Monitor the use of raw materials, keeping in mind waste reduction 
  • Perform periodic preventative maintenance recommended by the manufacturer 
  • Maintain paperwork such as production usage reports, quality check sheets, etc. 
  • Troubleshoot and detect cause of press stoppage and breakdowns 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area 
 
Education & Experience:
  • Ink and Color Mixing/Layering (REQUIRED)
  • Experience working a flexographic printing press (REQUIRED)
  • Previous Manufacturing/production experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Computer Skills
